ENGLISH DAYS „Festivals and special days in the UK and the USA” - 26-05-2022
W maju w naszej szkole odbyły się Dni Języka Angielskiego (English Day) dla klas 4-8 pod hasłem „Festivals and special days in the UK and the USA”. Uczniowie prezentowali podczas lekcji święta i związane z nimi zwyczaje w języku angielskim lub polskim.
Organizowali również zabawy w klasach tj. szukanie czekoladowych jajek czy monet, przygotowywali krzyżówki oraz quizy dla swoich kolegów, był nawet poczęstunek w postaci naleśników. Wzięli również udział w konkursach tematycznych w trzech kategoriach: konkurs na najładniejszy plakat dla klas 4-7, konkurs na najładniejszy lapbook dla klas 4-7, konkurs wiedzy o świętach w Wielkiej Brytanii i w Stanach Zjednoczonych na platformie edukacyjnej „Quizizz” w języku angielskim dla klas 5-6 oraz dla klas 7-8. Uczniowie klas ósmych przystąpili do konkursu literackego polegającego na napisaniu e-maila w języku angielskim, w którym należało zaprosić kolegę Allana z Irlandii do Polski na Święta Bożego Narodzenia lub Wielkanoc oraz wskazać dogodny termin przyjazdu i uzasadnić jego wybór. W drugim paragrafie trzeba było zamieścić opis, w jaki sposób w Polsce obchodzi się te święta, a w ostatniej części zaproponować wspólne spędzenie czasu i udzielić rady, co ze sobą zabrać i dlaczego. Zapraszamy do przeczytania prac laureatów tego konkursu na stronie internetowej szkoły.
Wszystkim uczniom dziękujemy za zaangażowanie i duży wkład pracy. Serdecznie gratulujemy laureatom konkursów wysokiego poziomu wiedzy i umiejętności językowych.

Hi Allan,
Thank you for your last email. Have you got any plans for the upcoming Christmas holiday?
I would like to invite you to my house on the 20th of December, so we will have time to prepare for Christmas Eve. We will put decorations up, buy presents for each other and put them under the Christmas tree.
Here in Poland, we celebrate Christmas Eve by spending time with our family. We all sit down at one table. We give each other a piece of our wafer and wish them good things.
When you already get here, we could go skiing or snowboarding at the great hill which is next to the shopping mall. Remember to bring with you some warm clothes. If you don’t really like skiing, we can go ice skating! I have two pairs of ice skates, so I can give you one. There is a lot of snow in Poland right now, so we could even build a snowman or have a snowball fight!

Hi Allan,
Thank you for your last e-mail. Have you got any plans for the upcoming Christmas holiday? If not, then how about you come to Poland to spend Christmas with me! You could fly to Poland on the 23rd of December so that we still have time to check out the Christmas market in Krakow.
In Poland, we celebrate Christmas on the 24th. I usually spend Christmas at my grandparents’ house and help out in the kitchen. We prepare food like beetroot strew and dumplings for the Christmas dinner, which starts after we see the first star in the night sky. Before we start eating, my grandpa reads a Bible verse. After finishing eating, we finally open the presents from under the tree.
Once you arrive in Poland I suggest we go to the Christmas market that I mentioned earlier. It has great food, toys and presents, all sold in wooden booths. The next day we could go to my grandparents’ house and celebrate Christmas!
I really hope you can come to Poland for Christmas. It would be a very joyful holiday.

Hi Allan,
Thank you for your last email. Have you got any plans for the upcoming Christmas. If not, you can come to my house if you don’t mind. On the 24th of December me and my family have a feast together. It’ll be a good time for you to come because you can eat with us. We could unbox some presents together!
Here in Poland on 24th od December, as you know, we have a feast of 12 dishes. One of them and most iconic is carp. At every dinner, there is beetroot soup too. Before the feast, we share wafers together. It’s a tradition as well as putting some money under the tablecloth. After the feast, we take a bath with some coins for a lot of money in the new year. On the 25th of December, we go to church to sing some carols.
I wonder how we could spend the time together. Maybe before the feast, we should go to the cinema for some fun. It’ll be a good idea because they play a lot of Christmas films. It’ll be a good entertainment before the feast. I want to tell you what kind of clothes you should bring to Poland. Here the weather can be tricky. I suggest you bring a warm jacket because it can be very cold outside. You can bring some other clothes too, like a hoodie or some shoes because there is not much snow. You can take some money too, so we can buy some popcorn.
